Real Help From Real People

StrongSteps Navigators are trained, certified guides who help individuals, families and small businesses shop for and enroll in health coverage through NY State of Health, the Official Health Plan Marketplace. We'll explain your choices in plain language, answer your questions, and help you complete your application from start to finish.

There's no cost, no sales pitch, and no pressure. Our job is simply to help you find coverage that fits your life.

How Our Navigators Can Help

Coverage You Can Apply For Any Time of Year

Some programs are open year round, so you don’t have to wait for a special season to get covered. You can apply anytime for:

  • Medicaid
  • Child Health Plus
  • The Essential Plan

Private health plans (Qualified Health Plans) are available during Open Enrollment. Outside of Open Enrollment, you may still be able to enroll if you’ve had a qualifying life event in the last 60 days, like losing other coverage, moving, getting married, or having a baby.

Not sure which one fits? That's exactly what we're here for.

Getting Started Is Easy

Call to make an appointment:

Our Navigators meet with people at our locations across New York, and many locations offer early morning or evening hours so you can fit an appointment around work or family.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

Having a few things with you helps us finish your application in one visit. Please bring the following for each person in your household who is applying:

  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Proof of citizenship or immigration status
  • Photo ID, such as a driver’s license or permanent resident card
  • Proof of income from the last 4 weeks, like pay stubs
  • Your most recent federal tax return, if you’re self employed
  • Information about any health insurance you have now, or coverage offered through an employer
Missing something? Come anyway. Your Navigator can get started with what you have and let you know what's still needed.

Your Information Stays Protected.

The information you share with your Navigator is used only to help you apply for coverage, and it's kept private and secure. Please bring your documents to your appointment rather than sending them through our website contact form or by email.

Coverage Is One More Step Toward Feeling Supported.

Health insurance opens the door to care, and you don't have to figure it out alone. Give us a call and we'll help you take the next step.
